Central Coast Cosmetic Dentist for TEETH Veneers

If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your smile, you’re not alone.  This concern can affect your self-esteem, but there is no need to feel self-conscious.  We have effective cosmetic options available that can significantly work to improve the look of teeth. The most dramatic solution? Custom dental veneers!

Dental Veneers: Your Solution for a Fast Smile Makeover

Dental veneers are a cosmetic dentistry treatment used to improve the appearance of one’s smile.  Each veneer is a thin layer of porcelain or composite material that covers the front of a tooth, masking irregularities behind it.  Depending on the needed results and how wide your smile is, we may recommend anywhere from 1-10 veneers per upper and lower arch.

If you have teeth with any of the following concerns, you may be a good candidate for veneers:

  • Missing teeth
  • Short or misshaped teeth
  • Discoloured enamel that doesn’t whiten well with bleaching treatments
  • Slightly broken or chipped
  • Crooked teeth

When you visit our Central Coast dental practice, we’ll address your cosmetic concerns and go over what options are available to assist you.

At Helix Dentistry in Long Jetty, we offer two kinds of veneers to choose from: porcelain and composite.

What Is a Composite Veneer?

Composite is often used for bonding over minor to moderate aesthetic concerns.  During this single appointment procedure, our dentist will slightly buff the front of your tooth to allow room for the composite material and avoid bulkiness.

Based on our recommendations and your preferences, we will decide on a shade and then hand-sculpt a veneer directly onto your tooth.  Like dental bonding, a composite veneer can last several years if well cared for. However, chairside veneers are best for only addressing 1-2 teeth at a time, instead of several.

Traditional Porcelain Veneers

Conventional veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that are custom fabricated and bonded to the front of each visible tooth. For cosmetic dentistry on the Central Coast, we’ll scan the front of your tooth and take an impression or intraoral scan. Our in-house technology will design the veneer and return it on the same day!  No need to wait, you can have an immediate smile-makeover.

After our cosmetic dentist verifies that everything fits properly, we will permanently bond them to your natural teeth, and you will be on your way to enjoying your new smile!

Same-Day Smile-Makeover with Porcelain Veneers

In some cases, we can greatly speed up the process of transforming your smile.  Our practice uses the latest in CAM/CAD 3D technology to construct your CEREC porcelain crowns and veneers right in our office!  This form of porcelain provides the highest quality and best outcome, and to make it even better, it can be completed in one appointment instead of two.

After our dentist prepares the tooth for the veneer, we will take a series of intraoral scans with a small handheld wand.  The scans assist us in designing the perfect veneers for your teeth, and with the touch of a button the machine will carve each one while you sit back and relax. Within a matter of hours, rather than weeks, you can leave our office with your new porcelain veneers permanently bonded in place.

Which Dental Veneer is Best for Me?

Have you been given the option of all of the above veneer choices to restore your smile?  Having trouble deciding which route to take?  Understanding the advantages and disadvantages of each procedure will help you make the best decision to fit your lifestyle and budget.

Advantages of Composite Veneers

  • Cost less to make
  • Can usually be easily repaired if chipped or broken
  • Usually require less natural tooth reduction compared to porcelain
  • Same day placement

Disadvantages of Composite Veneers

  • Can stain rather easily. Not recommended for smokers. Heavily consuming dark drinks like coffee, tea, and red wine is discouraged.
  • May not completely mimic your tooth structure
  • Not recommended to fill in large spaces or straighten very crooked teeth

Advantages of Porcelain Veneers

  • Very resistant to stains
  • Reflect natural light better, therefore look more natural and aesthetic
  • More durability for everyday wear
  • The gold-standard cosmetic dentistry option

Disadvantages of Porcelain Veneers

  • Larger investment
  • Can’t be repaired if broken. Must be replaced.

How Much Do Veneers Cost?

The cost of getting cosmetic dental veneers depends on a few factors: like how many you will need and what kind you choose to get. The investment in greater self-confidence and an instantly whiter, straighter smile is priceless.

Is There Any Dental Insurance That Covers Veneers?

Since it is considered a cosmetic treatment, most dental insurance companies do not help pay for veneers.  We’ll discuss your cosmetic dentistry options and inform you of costs of dental veneers before proceeding.

When you come for your consultation appointment, we can discuss different payment options and financing plans that are available.

At Helix Dentistry on the Central Coast, we love making beautiful smiles a reality. Dental veneers can change your life.  Come see us today to discuss your treatment options!
